Given the ancient tradition of carnival in Nice (more details here: www.nicecarnaval.com), it seems natural that the first queer carnival of France took place there in February 2015. The organizers contacted me to conceive the name and the logo of this great event, and my proposal was also welcomed by the City of Nice: hinting to the local dialect (“lou carnaval”), the name “Lou Queernaval” immediately entered the collective imagination, creating a successful event with rainbow dancers, floats, artists, dressed-up spectators, entertainment and great participation.
The logo is a simple icon, a “Q” composed of rainbow confettis to ensure an immediate connection with the queer world from which it originates.
